Richard Lies was baptised on 22nd August 1832 at Evesham in Worcestershire, son of a shopkeeper named Ann Maria Lies, formerly Dingley, and her husband John Lies, a shoemaker. Richard's father died when he was about seven years old. The 1841 census finds Richard living with his mother and siblings at Bridge Street in Evesham.

Richard has yet to be researched after 1841.
