Lake Odessa Wave Times, Mar 1916, Page 4
Randall M. Lipscomb was born near Thomasville, Ontario, Canada, May 19, 1835, and departed this life at his home in Woodland township March 23, 1916, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and four days. He was the eldest son of Allen and Sarah Lipscomb.
In 1855 he moved with his parents to Woodland township, where he resided until death. In 1863 he was united in marriage to Polly M. Myers. To this union were born 10 children, five of whom died in infancy.
There remains to mourn his loss one son and four daughters, Mrs. Ed. Demaray of Sebewa, Mrs. Dave Klingman of Odessa, Mr. Randall Lipscomb of Woodland, Mrs. George Cooper of Pontiac and Mrs. Flint Eddy at the old home; one brother, Allen Lipscomb of Battle Creek; one sister, Mrs. F.T. Haskings of Saranac; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
He was one of the charter members of the United Brethren church at Saranac, always ready and willing to do his part for the upbuilding of God’s kingdom. He was often called upon in time of sickness on account of his willingness and love to do for others. He will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbors and especially by his family.
He was one of the pioneers of northwest Woodland, having moved there when it was a forest, and aided in subduing and cultivating into beautiful farms. No task looked too hard for him and with the courage of a good soldier he went forth to conquer, and with the kindness of his nature was always ready to do for others. He died in the faith of the Son of God. His last words were to his wife, who had gone before: “Oh, mother, take me home.”
[Transcriber's Note: There is a note on the obituary card that he was buried in Lakeside Cemetery.]
