Sarah McDonald Lipscomb, widow of Allen Lipscomb, died at the home of her son
Randall Lipscomb on Sept. 19th, at the age of 87 years. She was the daughter of
Randall and Polly McDonald and was born in Howard, Canada.
She was married to Allen Lipscomb April 8, 1834 and resided in Canada until 1855
when they moved to Michigan and settled in Woodland township where she lived
until death. Four sons and three daughters were born to them and she is
survived by three boys, Randall of woodland, Ansalon of Minneapolis and Allen of
Battle Creek; the daughter, Mrs. Polly Haskins of Saranac; three brothers, one
sister, thirty grand children and 28 great grand children.
She was converted at the age of 14 and became a member of the Wesleyan Methodist
church, where she held her membership until 1870 when she joined the U.B. church
and remained a faithful member until her death.
The funeral was conducted from the Tamarac church by Rev. I.H. Mourer of this
village.
