Pierre GODIN dit BELLEFONTAINE, born 1704, son of Gabriel & Andre'e-Ange'lique JOANNES, married at Grand Pré on 22 Aug 1730 to Marie-Josephe BOURG, daughter of Alexandre & Marguerite MELANSON. He had two sons and two daughters on the 1736 census of River St. Jean. !CHILDREN: Family Group Record sent by Karen Grant in Sep 1996 lists: Helen, born 1734; Jean Baptiste, 1736; Francois, 1738; Alexandre, abt 1739; Joseph 1740; Claude, 1741; Marguerite, 1742; Pierre, 1743; Armand, 1744. Pierre's wife and family, except for the three eldest sons, were captured by the English in 1759 and sent into exile. Pierre (with sons Francois, Jean-Baptiste, Alexandre) took refuge at Miramichi, where he died of exposure the folowing winter. Only Helene of the exiled was heard from again. [This does not gibe with data that his wife remarried in 1745.
