Sponsors: Gabriel SELLE [wrote Sr. DU CLOS] & Marie FRIE (wife of LEGER HAGNIE dit La Fontaine, bourgeois of Montreal). He was on the 1666 census of Charlesbourg, age 5 years; on census at Port Royal, Acadia in 1686, age 25 years; on 1693 Riviere St-Jean census, age 38 years (sic); 1698, age 37 years. He married (Quebec Register) on 24 Jul 1690 (GENAPLE contract dated 19 Jul 1690) to Andre'e-Ange'lique JEANNE (JASNE), daughter of Robert & Francoise-Madeleine SAVARD; twelve children. Witnesses: Robert JEANNE, father; Mathieu D'AMOURS de FRENEUSE; Jean LEFEBVRE, under of the bride; Rene' D'AMOURS de Clignancour; MARSOLET; Joseph de ROUVRAY; Martin JEANNE; Jean-Francois HEUSSEUR who have signed with the bride. Gabriel GODIN dit BELLEFONTAINE, born 1661, son of Pierre & Jeanne ROUSSELIERE, married at Quebec on 24 Jul 1690 to Andre'e-Ange'lique JOANNES, daughter of Robert & Francoise-Madeleine SAVARD; eleven children. A footnote states that Governor ROBINEAU de VILLEBON accorded him a concession on the river St. Jean in the Nashwaak region (near today's Fredericton). It was then that he took the title sieur de BELLEFONTAINE, which some of his sons carried on. Gabriel's widow was at River St. Jean in 1739.

    On p. 1117 (Grand Pré, daughter-in-law's entry), gives name as Gabriel GODIN.
