    Opel was the daughter of William (Pop) Westley Lauchner and Ella Mae (Branstetter) Laughner. She had one brother Robert. Dec. 11, 1907 she married Eldo Milton Shaffer.

    Opel and Eldo had 6 children. Herbert Elmo, m (Ester Robison), Vivian Alice m(John Deboy), Evelyn m,(Kenneth Miller), Harold Robert, m (Mary Waincsott), Harley Gail, m (Billie Albright), m (Nondas Gochenour), Roselyn Ione, m (Lee Fagala).

    Eldo and Opal farmed all their lives in the Geetingsville area, and were both members of the Geetingsville Presbyterian church. Opal had a very strong faith that carried her thru all the tragedies in her life.
