Eldo was the son of Gibson Thompson Shaffer and Margaret Maggart. He had one sister Vada Dell Shaffer m(Tank West Nutter) m (ElvieTinkle) and a half brother Leo Ross Shaffer m (Lena Usher) and a half sister Bessie Mae Shaffer m(Othal S. Calhoun).
Dec. 11, 1907 Eldo married Miss Opal Lauchner in Frankfort IN. Eldo and Opal farmed all their lives in the Geetingsville area, and were both members of the Geetingsville Presbyterian Church.
