He has been in a very critical condition for many weeks, suffering from lung trouble. Death resulted from a hemmohrage (sic), which occurred yesterday morning about 3 o?clock. Dr. Tullis was born in Marion County and would have been 52 years old in July. After graduation at Augusta Medical College, he settled at Magnolia Springs, near Americus, where he entered upon the practice of his profession, which he pursued up to a recent period, when ill health incapacitated him from further practice. From Magnolia Springs he came to Thomasville 22 years ago, and has since been one of our best known and most highly respected citizens. He was married twice. His last wife and six children survive him. Dr Tullis joined the Baptist Church in early manhood. In the years that followed he lived the life of a Christian, taking an active interest in church work, teaching by both precept and example the tenets of the faith which he professed. And when the end finally came, when his work was finished, when it was said to him "It is enough, come up higher", he was ready to depart. In the darkening shadows of death his faith grew brighter and stronger in the Saviour of all mankind. The grief stricken wife and orphaned children have the sympathies of the entire community in their irreparable loss. May God graciously bind up their bleeding hearts and give them consolation which His grace alone can impart. The funeral, as will be seen elsewhere, takes place from the residence this morning at 10 o?clock. AT REST All that was mortal of the late Dr N. G. Tullis was laid to rest yesterday morning in the silent city of the dead, Laurel Hill Cemetary. The funeral services took place at the residence at 10 o?clock and were conducted by Rev. C. N. Donaldson, assisted by Revs. Wardlaw and White. The following were the pall-bearers: Dr T. M. McIntosh, J. S. Montgomery, J. H. Merrill, Jno. M. Dekle, John C. Beverly, and R. W. Blalock. The handsome casket was literally covered with flowers, a number of beautiful designs being noticeable. A long procession followed the remains to the cemetery where the last sad rites were performed, and the body lowered into the tomb. Thus has passed away a good physician, a kind father, loving husband, a respected neighbor and model citizen.
