Nelson C. Howard, 90, of 740 Emmett died Friday at a local hospital.He was a native of Richland and lived in that community until 1940, when he moved to Kansas City and later came to Topeka.
Mr. Howard was a retired buyer for the Beatrice Foods Co. in Topeka and a member of the Richland United Brethren church and the Modern Woodmen lodge there.
His father, Hiram Milton Howard, was a pioneer doctor in the Richland community before Kansas became a state. He moved to the area from Ohio.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Disney of 601 Green; Mrs. Stella Boehmer of 4612 West Tenth; Mrs. Bertha Desque of Richland, Mrs. Helen Jeffrey of the home and Mrs. Nellie Palmer of Kansas City; a son, Claude Howard of Michigan Valley; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 pm Sunday at the Richland United Brethren church with burial in the Richland cemetery. The McMichael Memorial home is in charge of arrangements.
