QUENEMO - Claude Emerson Howard, 69, Quenemo, died Monday at his home in the Michigan Valley community near here. He was born August 15, 1905 at Richland and lived in the Richland community many years before he moved to the Michigan Valley community about 25 years ago. He was a farmer.
He was a member of the former Methodist Church at Richland and attended the United Methodist Church in the Michigan Valley community. He was a member and past master of Ridgeway Lodge No. 62, AF&AM at Overbrook. He was a member of Fidelity Chapter No. 38, Order of Eastern Star. at Carbondale and the Junction Grange.
He was married to Gladys Hupp March 5, 1925 at Topeka. She survives. A daughter, Mrs. Margaret Matney, died in 1959.
Other survivors include 2 sons, Darrel Howard, Overbrook, and Marlin Howard, Overbrook; 3 sisters, mrs. Hazel Disney, Topeka, Mrs. Bertha Desque, Overbrook, and Mrs. Nellie Palmer, Vassar; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday in the united Methodist Church at Overbrook with burial in Overbrook Cemetery.
