Facts and Events
Note from Jim Rubins' site: Nehemiah was given the same name as his father's brother, who had drowned in Oyster Bay, Long Island. Nehemiah was granted 100 acres at the west boundary of Saint Lawrence Park. The stone house he built at King and Perth Streets, (present site of Cornerstone Store), was the first stone house in Brockville. There he operated a tavern. He was a founding member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the most prosperous of Caleb's sons. On Dec. 9, 1830 he died in a fall from St. Paul's Bridge during a storm.
