Notes below copied from email from Donna Przecha posted here: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/SEAMAN/1997-11/0880207054 Caleb was probably from Jericho, Long Island, New York. He and his family were living in Amenia and Schenectady, NY at the time of the American Revolutionary War. He enlisted on the king's side, but was soon arrested and held at Fishkills, NY. Caleb applied for land in Canada and was granted 200 acres on July 6, 1790. He opened a blacksmith shop in the village of Lyn in Elizabethtown township. He married Martha Jackson. Born, circa 1758. Died in Rockport, Ont., Can. There were many Jacksons in Long Island and there were many marriages between Seamans and Jacksons. Martha was a popular name amongst the Jackson and Seaman families and the parentage of this particular Martha has not been established. She undoubtedly came from the family of Robert Jackson who was one of the first settlers of Stamford, Connecticut and a close neighbor of Captain John Seaman in Hempstead, Long Island. John Seaman and Robert Jackson were very influential in the early decision making in Hempstead. References
