"Nathaniel Brewster, b. in or before 1618, was graduated from Harvard College 1642, went to England, where from 1643 to 1663 he labored in the ministry, beginning at Neatishead and Irsted; m. (1) abt. 1644, Abigail Reynes, dau. of John of Norfolk; in 1649 was in Walderswich, as mentioned above; was settled at Alby, co. Norfolk, 1651; sent to Ireland by Cromwell, 1655, and is said to have received degree of B.D. from University of Dublin, 1656; was back in Alby by 1662, and the following year returned to America. After preaching for short periods in
Boston, and Eastchester, he was settled as pastor in Setauket, Brookhaven, L. I., from 1664 until his death. His will was proved May 1695. Doubtless it was in Ireland abt. 1656 that he m. (2) Sarah Ludlow, dau. of Roger."

"Nathaniel (Brewster), New Haven, one of the earliest gr. of Harv. prob. s. of Francis, brot. from London, went to Eng. sett. as min. at Alby, in Co. Norf. had the degr. of B. D. from Dublin Univ. came back after the restorat. and preach. some time from Oct. 1663, at the first ch. in Boston; at last was sett. at Brookhaven, L. I. 1665; m. Sarah, d. of Roger Ludlow, d. 1690, leav. s. John, Timothy, and Daniel, whose descend. are still found there. The extravag. tradit. a. his age giv. by a gr.s. as if he were 95, when only 48 yrs. from H. C. is in John Adams' Works, II. 441. It is not prob. that Francis was neph. of the disting. "Francis Brewster did not complete his apprenticeship until 1622, and as Nathaniel was his son, he must have married almost immediately, for Nathaniel was hardly born later than 1624. His birth has usually been placed earlier than that, but we have found no record statement of his age. Many of the graduates of the early classes at Harvard were boys of 17 and 18, hence for Nathaniel, graduated in 1642, it is not necessary to postulate an earlier date of birth than 1624." [at 13:19]
