Reared in Brookhaven, Long Island, where he served as Town Clerk from 1688 until 1711, when he was followed by his brother Daniel, who served for 28 years. He married Mary, daughter of Zachariah Hawkins. The dates of their deaths have not been found. His name appears in the records up to 1741 and in 1749 his widow, Mary was assessed. Citation needed

Nathaniel Brewster and his second wife Sarah, daughter of Roger Ludlow, Governor of Connecticut, and Mary (Cogan) Ludlow. The father of Rev. Nathaniel Brewster was Francis Brewster who settled in Connecticut. Timothy Brewster was Town Clerk of Brookhaven, L. I., from 1688 to 1711."
