   Nancy E. Uphold, 93, of Meyersdale, died July 11, 1997, at Meyersdale Manor.  Born Feb. 15, 1904, in Elk Lick Township.  A daughter of the late Richard S. and Fanny (Lepley) Nicholson.  Preceded in death by husband, Charles C. on Jan. 27, 1979; two brothers, Ralph and Alva Nicholson, Matilda Miller and Fannie Grew.  Survived by these children, C. Elwood married to the former Jean Sirbough, Hyndman; Ruth E., wife of Carl Firl, Meyersdale; Thelma Grace, wife of Donald Swearman, Meyersdale RD 1; Elma A., wife of David Walker, Chambersburg; Marcella M. Singer, Painesville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Lloyd of Aspers, PA; Clifford Uphold and Vickie Mulnix, both of Meyersdale; Terri Taylor, Waynesboro; Tammi Eslinger, Centerville, Ohio; James Walker, South Riding, Va.; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ester Hetrick, and Lillian Johnson,  both of Meyersdale.  Member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ.  Friends will be received at Leckemby Funeral Home, Saturday 2-4 and  7-9 p.m. Sunday, she will be taken to the St. Paul United Church of Christ to lie in state from 1-2 p.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Bruce Ashalock.  Interment church cemetery.  Contributions may  be sent to the St. Paul Cemetery Association.
