Facts and Events
Disambiguation
This Nancy Crow DID NOT die 1861 in Bates County, Missouri. She has been confused and conflated with her NIECE Nancy Crow (1798-1861). This Nancy Crow died sometime after 1805, likely in Cocke County, Tennessee, where her husband, Thomas Gragg died prior to November 1827. Both Nancy Crow's married men named Thomas Gragg, which no doubt has created the confusion between the two.
Notes
Nancy is named in her father, Walter Crow's will in Augusta County, as follows:

"A certain obligation which John Crow obtained from William Crow at Lewis (Levines) Ferry, on James River, which John assigned to his father, Walter Crow, amounting to £20 principle, interest from August, 1784, if John shall pay some to Anne, etc.," otherwise the amount is to be deducted from John's share. Nancy Ellender Crow Birth 25 Mar 1764 Augusta County, Virginia, USA Death unknown Cocke County, Tennessee, USA
Nancy Ellender Crow was born 25 March 1764 in Augusta County, Virginia, the daughter of Walter Crow (1717-1789) of Linville Creek and [possibly his second wife] Ann Miller.
"Nancy Gregg" was named in the will of her father Walter Crow which is listed in Chalkley's Vol. I, written 6 Aug. 1789, and proven 28 Sept. 1789 in Rockingham County, Virginia.
Nancy Crow married Thomas Gragg Sr. (abt. 1761-bef. Nov. 1827) on 17 Jun. 1783, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, [or Augusta County, Virginia] according to some researchers.
Nancy's date of death is unknown, but she clearly died sometime after the birth of her youngest daughter Martha "Patsy" Gragg in 1805, likely in Cocke County, Tennessee. Unfortunately, the Courthouse in Cocke County, Tennessee was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1876, so the wills and estate records of Nancy and also of her husband Thomas Gragg, Sr. will likely never be found or recovered.
Note: this Nancy Crow did NOT die 1861 in Bates County, Missouri. There is an incorrect Find-A-Grave memorial showing this, but it was a DIFFERENT Nancy Crow, born in 1798 that married a different Thomas Gragg, a Nephew of her husband Thomas that has been confused with this Nancy Crow. We hope sometime in the future that the contributor will correct their Find-A-Grave Memorial, which so far those suggestions have been ignored.
