    Name: Robert Gragg
    Marriage Date: 7 Aug 1842
    Marriage County: Howard
    Spouse Name: Miss Harrott

Note: the marriage transcribed record shows "Robert Gragg of Henry Co. and Miss Harriett the widow of Thomas Jones."

Robert came to Rives-Henry Co MO abt 1839 from Howard Co MO. His wife Peggy, and son William, died soon after.

Robert Gragg is shown to have purchased 80 acres, Henry Co., Feb 29 1840 from the U.S. Govt., cert # 18558. Robert and Harriet sold a portion of this land June 1845 to Charles R. Gragg, presumed to be his son.
Charles Gragg died within a few months and willed this same land to Robert M. Gragg and wife, Margaret Gragg. Since Robert and Harriet are in 1850 census, it would seem the land was willed to a different Robert M., with a wife named Margaret, perhaps a brother.? It is possible the Will was written while this Robert's wife, Margaret, was still living.

Robert M. and Margaret Gragg sold this same land to Phylander S. Moor (aka Moore) Jan. 1846. Phylander married Robert's dau Rebecca Ann Apr 1846.

Robert and Harriet sold another portion of his land to George Bryant in April 1845. George was husband of Robert's dau, Caty Ann Gragg, who were married May 4 1840, Cass Co., with Robert's written consent.

    1830 census Howard Co. MO: Head GRAGG Robert - 2 males 10 under 15 - 1 male 30 under 40, 1 female under 5, 2 female 5 under 10, 1 female 30 under 40.

    1840 Rives-Henry Co MO: GRAGG Robert, 1 male 15 under 20, 1 male 50 under 60, 1 female 10 under 15, 1 female 15 under 20.

    1850 Howard Co: GRAGG Robt/60, Harriett/50

Note: Robert had a nephew, Robert Malcom Gragg (1826-1909 son of Malcolm & Rebecca) whose known wife was Catherine Cook. Some researchers show him to be the Robert M. cited above, which is unlikely as he would seem too young, and was married to Catherine, not Margaret.

While burial in the Gragg cemetery not proved, the cemetery has many gravesites with unknown burials, there are very few headstones, and this was the family cemetery.

    Marriages, Births, Deaths
The first death was that of Peggy, the wife of Robert Gragg, who died the year they came, in 1838, of cancer, and was buried in Camp Branch. The second death was that of William Gragg, son of Robert, in 1839, thus losing wife and son within about a year. The son's age was about thirty years.

The first marriage was that above stated of Mr. Austin and Miss Jones. The second was that of Miss Walbert, but was within the present town of Deepwater. The third was in the winter of 1839, being that of Miss Elanda Gragg and George Cowan; fourth that of Mary Ann Gragg and William B. Poage. The former by Esquire Bedwell, and the latter by Dr. Jones. They were sisters of the Rev. R. M. Gragg. The latter were married May 9, 1844. In 1845, Robert Gragg and Miss Peggy Gragg were married, the latter his cousin. These were the early marriages.
