Mindwell Moses Thrall was the daughter of John Moses and Mary Brown. John and Mindwell had eight sons and a daughter. Most of the young men had some military service and John I was called "Sgt. John" apparently to distinguish between his first son, John, as they both lived all their lives in the same community. Sgt. John moved out to that part of Windsor called the Turkey Hills (Now East Granby) to clear land for himself and his boys. All of his children were born in Windsor, Connecticut.

Her brother John (1623-1683) married Deborah Thrall, daughter of Timothy Thrall and Deborah Gunn and sister of her husband.
