    "Moses, John, land grant. W. 1641, or 48 (see p. 162, Vol. I). In 1651 the town gave him 'allowance to sojourn with Simon Wilton (?) in his house.' Edward Chalkwell willed him, 1648, his best suit, coat, stockings, and shoes. He m. 18 May, 1653, Mary Brown, who d. 14 Sept., 1689; he d. 14 Oct., 1683.—Col. Rec. He contributed 5s. 6d. to Conn. Fund for Relief of Poor in other Colonies, 1676; left his wid. one-third of his real est. and £64 personal ppy.; to son Timothy, £66; to Mary, £70; to the four youngest daus., £60; estate, £575."

    Page 84—6 March, 1684: Whereas this Court hath been informed that in John Moses' Inventory there is a parcell of Land bought of Sarah Linsley, 13 acres, valued at £13, which is Judged worth £60, that parcell of Land is by these appointed to distribute the estate to be Valued in proportion as the other Land, & what overpluss it makes is to help beare what
    the Estate is fallen short since the Inventory was taken.

    Estate of John Moses, Simsbury, 1690-1—To the constable of Simsbury to serve and return: In their Maties Name you are required to warne John Moses of your Town to appear at the Court to be holden at Hartford the first Thursday in March next, to Answer Samuel Farnsworth in Right of his wife, as he is Administrator to the Estate of John Moses deceased, in action of the case for his neglecting to make payment to sayd Farnsworth the sume of Seventy pounds due to him in the right of his wife as her proportion of her father's Estate allotted to her by the Court, wth necessary costs & charges. Hereof fayle not. Dated at Hartford, Feb. 10, 1690-1. John Allyn, Secretary.

    Then this warrant was served upon John Moses by me, John Rohearts, Constable for Simsbury.

    Received of John Moses, as Administrator to ye Estate of John Moses deceased, in Right of my wife Mary, the daughter of the said deceased, as part of her portion ordered and distributed to her out of the Estate of the said John Moses deceased, the sum of seventeen pounds seven shillings and six pence. I say received the 16th of January, 1690, pr. me,
