BIRTH: 1850 and 1860 Census of North Codorus Twp., York, PA. CHRISTENING: 16 Jan 1834 - St. Paul's (Zeigler's) Church; North Codorus, York, PA; records in Historical Society of York Co., PA. NOTE: There is an obvious error as the christening date is prior to birth. More research needed. MARRIAGE: Hanover Register; record of marriage by Rev. Scheuler; copy in Historical Society of York Co., PA. CENSUS: 1880 - In Heidelberg Twp., York, PA with her children, Israel, John, Martin, Levi and Amanda. Source Notation: SD 4, ED 13, page 58.              1900 - Viewed in the Census Images online at Ancestry.com in Heidelberg Twp, York Co, PA - SD 8, ED 152, Sheet 3a, Ancestry Image 5 of 21.  Mary was in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Daniel Freed and their daughter Mabel M.  Mary reported that she was widowed and that she had had 8 children and 7 were living.

OBITUARY: Obituary dated 10 Mar 1906 in the Hanover Herald states - Mrs. Mary Hale, widow of Eli Hale, died at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Amanda Freed, at Jacobs' Mills, on Sunday, March 4 at 11:40 p.m. of paralysis, aged 78 years, 2 months, 15 days.

    She is survided by five sons - John Hale of Cornwall, Pa.; Israel of Ridge Ave., Hanover;  Martin of York; Henry, of Spring Grove; Levi, of near Smith's Station -- and two daughters -- Mrs. Louisa McMaster, of near East Berlin; and Mrs. Amanda Freed, of Jacobs' Mills.  One sister - Miss Lydia Mummert of West York - also survives.
    Funeral Wednesday, March 7, at 9 a.m. at the house.  Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery.  Rev. J. A Metzger officiating.
