NOTE: There is an obvious error as the christening date is prior to birth. More research needed. MARRIAGE: Hanover Register; record of marriage by Rev. Mary was in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Daniel Freed and their daughter Mabel M. Mary reported that she was widowed and that she had had 8 children and 7 were living. OBITUARY: Obituary dated 10 Mar 1906 in the Hanover Herald states - Mrs. Mary Hale, widow of Eli Hale, died at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Amanda Freed, at Jacobs' Mills, on Sunday, March 4 at 11:40 p.m. of paralysis, aged 78 years, 2 months, 15 days. She is survided by five sons - John Hale of Cornwall, Pa.; Israel of Ridge Ave., Hanover; Martin of York; Henry, of Spring Grove; Levi, of near Smith's Station -- and two daughters -- Mrs. Louisa McMaster, of near East Berlin; and Mrs. Amanda Freed, of Jacobs' Mills. One sister - Miss Lydia Mummert of West York - also survives. Funeral Wednesday, March 7, at 9 a.m. at the house. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Rev. J. A Metzger officiating.
