Facts and Events
From the Driver Family Memoirs Mary and her stepfather were incompatible so she left home. Though he was a very quick tempered man, he and Angeline got along quite normally. One time, though, while assisting him with a task, she jumped up unthinking and th piece of wood he was working on flew along with his anger. In his flash of anger, he grabbed an ax striking her back. Then realizing what he had done, consoled and told her how sorry he was. She may have married between 1850 and 1860. The trick will be to figure out who she married. There is a marriage record for a Mary Bradley born 1843 to a ? Hopkins. The stupid database doesn't say where! I have to find her in the 1860 census before I can go farther, I believe. Marriages to check BARNES, GEORGE W. Ohio? They appear in the Vermilion Twp 1860 census with a son James, 8 months old as of July 1860. I seem to remember being contacted quite a while ago by someone interested in the SANDERSONS, but as yet I cannot find that info. If I come across it I will surely let you know. The age for Mary (BRADLEY) SANDERSON seems about right to be Angeline BRADLEY's sister. Apparently Harvey SANDERSON had come from Fayette Co. OH, and they seem to have moved back there by 1880. Harvey is mentioned as being a Civil War soldier, 41 st Reg., from Vermilion. References
