White, DICTIONNAIRE GENEALOGIQUE DES FAMILLES ACADIENNES; 1636-1714; Moncton, New Brunswick, Centre d'Etudes Acadiennes, 1999, 2 vols.; p. 41; own copy. #2: He married around 1673 to Marie GAUDET, daughter of Denis & Martine GAUTHIER; nineteen children. He was on the 1686 census at Les Mines, Acadia, age 35 years; in 1693, age 46 years (sic). He died/was buried (Grand Pré Register) 14/15 May 1711, age 60 years, "he died suddenly on Ascension day upon return from mass, having always lived strongly Christian, and with edification."

!BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-RESIDENCES: Arsenault, H&G, p. 1086 (Grand Pré). Born in 1651 in the parish of Cougnes, in the La Rochelle region of France. A footnote from Genevieve MASSIGNON's Les parlers francais d'Acadie, vol. 1, p. 57: Michel AUCOIN [sic, meant for Martin?] was probably the nephew of Michelle AUCOIN, spouse of Michel BOUDROT of Port Royal, and of Jeanne AUCOIN, spouse of Francois GIROUARD, also of Port Royal. Martin was at Beaubassin in 1684, a the river aux Canards in Grand-Pré in 1714. He died suddenly on the day of the Ascension, on returning from mass "ayant toujours ve'cu fort chre'tiennement et avec e'dification." [Is this from his burial record at Saint-Charles-des-Mines?]

!DEATH-BURIAL: On Pedigree Chart sent by Dwayne A. MONTZ in Apr 1996. Martin AUCOIN, born about 1651 at Riv. Aux Canards, Acadia, married about 1672 at Port Royal. He died on 14 May 1711 at Riv Aux Canards; buried 15 May 1711 at Grand Pré (Reference Diocese of Baton Rouge Records, v. 1, p. 4).

Martin [AUCOIN], age 60 years [so born 1651?], native of River aux Canards, was buried on 15 May 1711. Recorded in (SGA-1, 26).

"Vu le manque de dispense, nous ne croyons pas que l'époux de Marie Gaudet pouvait être le fils du deuxième lit du menuisier de La Rochelle, mais il existe toujours la possibilité qu'il soit apparenté aux soeurs Michelle et Jeanne, dans un degré plus lointain." Due to the lack of dispensations, we do not believe that the husband of Marie Gaudet could be the son of the second marriage of the carpenter of La Rochelle, but it is still possible that he could be related to the sisters Michelle and Jeanne in a more distant degree.
