Newspaper clipping in my possession that Ambrose & Evelyn Bruder gave to me: MARTHA B. REMUS MISSOULA - Martha Bruder Remus, 92, of Missoula, formerly of Alberton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Village Health Care Center of natural causes. Martha was born Sept. 18, 1904, in Long Prairie, Minn., the daughter of John and Augusta Veising Bruder. She worked at Harts Print Shop in Long Prairie. Later she moved to Chinook and then Alberton. She was united in marriage to Otto Remus. Together the owned and operated the Alberton Merchantile for several years. Otto suffered a heart atttack and Martha then moved to Missoula, where she worked in the kitchen at St. Patrick Hospital. They never had any children but were part of Pat Deschamps' family for several years. Pat had worked for them at the store in Alberton. Martha loved to go places on the spur of the moment. Pat would call and she'd be ready. She was always flexible. She never asked where they were going; she just wanted to go. Her greatest joy was taking trips back to Minnesota to see family and old friends. Wherever she was, everyone said she had such a pretty smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otto in 1956, her brothers Clem, August and John; and nephews Lester and Edward Bruder. She is survived by her special caregiver Pat Descamps of Lolo; and numerous nieces and nephews; Lucille Bruder, Ambrose Bruder, Emil Bruder, Anthony and Lois Bruder, Bernice Miller and Leona Bluhm, all of Long Prairie, Juanita Bruder of Kamiah, Idaho, and Aileen Eckman of Bellevue, Wash. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at St. Mary's Cemetery. Livingston-Mallette and Geraghty Funeral Home is in charge of arrngements. Memorials in Martha's name my be made to the St. Albert Catholic Church in Alberton. References
