    Biography
Margaretha Lohrmann was born at Schwaigern, near Heilbronn, in 1717, daughter of Peter Lohrmann and his wife, Margaretha (born Dieter). The Lohrmann family left Schwaigern in 1737, with several other families from Schwaigern and arrived in Philadelphia on the ship "Charming Nancy," October 8, 1737. Margaretha married Martin Schwartz, from Schluchtern (a few kilometers from Schwaigern), who arrived in Philadelphia in 1738 and lost his wife, either on the journey or soon after they arrived. The were married by 1740 and lived at Germantown, north of Philadelphia, where three children were baptized at Saint Michael's Lutheran Church. In 1754 the Schwartz family left Pennsylvania and moved south to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where they took up land near the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, in what is now Shenandoah County, Virginia. A death date for Martin has not been determined but it was probably before 1771. Margaretha may be the "Margaret Black, deceased" whose personal property was appraised and filed in Frederick County Court, October 7, 1773.
