  1.   1880 Ohio census gives Canada as location of her birth. Location of her birth also given as Canada in 1920 Ohio census (as mother of Grace Weinland). However, location of her birth given as Ohio in her death certificate filled out by her son-in-law, Edgar Weinland.
  2.   Alternate spelling of surname - Magoveny (from copy of business card of Andrew G. Magoveny which was located with photo of her husband, Frank Fowler). Who was Andrew G. Magoveny?
  3.   Her granddaughter, Margaret Weinland Brooker, wrote the following on the inside cover of a New Testament & Psalm in possession of William C. Hill, Jr.: "Belonged to Grandma Fowler born in the 1840s." Written on the back of the fly leaf, "Mrs. F. E. Miller" and in what appears to be the same handwriting, "Mother. Jan 9 '22." Who was Mrs. F. E. Miller and to what does "Mother Jan 9, '22" refer?
  4.   There are letters extant which Frank wrote from Cincinnati in 1870 to his wife, who he referred to as "Maggie" addressed to Blanchester, Ohio. Perhaps she had gone to her parents home in Blanchester to have her first child. There are references in these letters to "Mary Jane" who may have been related to Maggie or her husband.
  5.   According to her granddaughter, Margaret Weinland Brooker, Maggie Fowler was a milliner (hat maker).
  6.   Maggie Fowler moved to Westerville, Ohio sometime after her husband died in Mt. Healthy (near Cincinnati), Ohio in 1881 and before her daughter, Grace, married Edgar L. Weinland in Westerville in 1894.
  7.   1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia enumerates household headed by John McGoveny and including Jennet McGoveny, age 30 at next birthday, which would make her year of birth 1822. See Note 3.
