- THIS INDENTURE made the twelfth day of May 1722 Between WILLIAM BROWN & MARGARET BROWN his Wife (one of the Surviving Sisters of CORNELIUS CLEMSON late) of the County of Essex, and WM. GOLDING of sd County of other part Witnesseth that they the said William Brown and Margaret his Wife for sum Ten pounds currant money & four hundred & nineteen pounds of Tobacco, hath on this date granted unto him the sd William Golding his heirs forever land in this County of Essex being one third part of a tract of land containing 200 acres formerly given to THOMAS CLEMSON Father of Cornelius Clemson included within a Pattent granted to CORNELIUS NOWELL [Noell] bearing date 23rd October 1690 for 390 acres of land the 200 acres is the land & plantation whereon sd William Golding now dwells . . . .
