KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I THOMAS MEADOWS of ye County of Essex do for several! good causes & consideracons I being at this present especiall thereunto moveing, do freely and willingly and absolutely give unto my God Son, WILLIAM BROWNE, Son of CHARLES BROWNE, One hundred acres of my Land lying on the South side of PEWMANSEND RUN begining at a marked Maple corner tree to Mr. SILVANUS THACKER and extending on a narrow ridge, thence West to a Hickrey saplin standing by the side of FRANCIS JAMES old Field & thence North to a marked Burch standing by ye Maine Run of PEWMANSEND & finally down ye sd run its severall courses to ye first stacon ; Now Know yee that I the sd MEDOWS do give the sd Land to my God Son, WM. BROWNE, & also to his heirs forever wth: warranty from me my heirs to him forever; without the hinderance of any persons whatsoever; In Witness I have hereto set my hand & fixed my seale

Deed of Gift. 10 June 1714, Charles Brown and Susanna his wife give to their two sons, William and Edward Brown, 100 acres each, on S side Rappa River, being part of a patent formerly granted by Sir William Berkeley to James Brown. The sd land lyeth on Cockell Shell Creek in Essex County. They failing in heirs to "our son Charles".

THIS INDENTURE made the twelfth day of May 1722 Between WILLIAM BROWN & MARGARET BROWN his Wife (one of the Surviving Sisters of CORNELIUS CLEMSON late) of the County of Essex, and WM. GOLDING of sd County of other part Witnesseth that they the said William Brown and Margaret his Wife for sum Ten pounds currant money & four hundred & nineteen pounds of Tobacco, hath on this date granted unto him the sd William Golding his heirs forever land in this County of Essex being one third part of a tract of land containing 200 acres formerly given to THOMAS CLEMSON Father of Cornelius Clemson included within a Pattent granted to CORNELIUS NOWELL [Noell] bearing date 23rd October 1690 for 390 acres of land the 200 acres is the land & plantation whereon sd William Golding now dwells . . . .
