Facts and Events
Name Margaret Byers
Gender Female
Birth? Abt 1828 Maryland
Death? Aft 1870

I believe she married Abraham Perjue (also shown as Purjue and Perdue), son of Richard Perjue and Margaret Richardson before 1846. According to 'We Travel with a Multitude', Abraham married 'Margaret Byes' and is buried in Utah (sometime after 1852), no death date shown. {'We Travel with a Multitude' by Virginia Sharp Hooper, 1970, privately printed, <www.heritagequest.com>} Abraham turned up in Utah in 1880 with two sons, John and Honest, by wife Clarinda (Green) Dewitt Hambleton, so they may have separated and/or divorced.

I believe Margaret may have married again between 1860 and 1870.
 In the 1850 census for Center 3, Appanoose Co., Iowa, Abraham 'Purgue' is 28, farmer from Indiana; with Margaret 22 Maryland; Martha 4 Illinois, and Celia 1 Iowa. There is also a 'Jackson Perjue' 33 IN with family in the same town.  {p.32b, <http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ia/appanoose/census/1850/pg00031.txt>}
 In the 1852 state census for Appanoose, there are listings for Abraham, Jackson and Richard 'Perjue'. Abraham has one male and 3 females in his household.{<http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ia/appanoose/census/1852.txt>} Andrew Jackson Perjue was the first sheriff for Appanoose.
 In the 1860 census for Pike, Warren Co., Indiana, Samuel 'Byres' is 60, farmer from Maryland; with Nancy 60 MD; [daughter?] Margaret (Purgin? Pargue?) 33 Maryland, with Martha 12, Celia 8, Richard 6, Thomas 4, and Mary 6 months -- all born Iowa.{p. 75 / 653 roll 305 HeritageQuest}
 In the 1870 census for Monticello, Lewis Co., Missouri, Nancy Byers is 66 'keeps house', born Maryland; with Samuel 66 MD, 'farmer; Tyler 10, and Allice 9 -- both born Indiana. Next door is Margaret (Bath? Bash?) 42 Maryland, with Celia 20 and Mary 10 -- all born Indiana. {p. 19 / 770 roll 787 HeritageQuest}
 There is an IGI record for Celia Ann 'Perjire' married Benj. Franklin Warner in 1878 in Lewis Co., Missouri. Another IGI record shows Celia Ann Purdue, married Rev. Benjamin F. Warner in 1871 and died 1875.
 In the 1880 census, she may be the Margaret Perdue in Groveland, Mcpherson Co., Kansas, listed as mother-in-law, 53 born Maryland, living with Eli P. Graves and wife Sarah F. 27 born Iowa. According to a website, Elias Perkins Graves married Sarah F. Perdue in Lewis Co., Missouri in 1871. {"Descendants of Thomas Graves and Miss Liles of TN" by the Graves Family Association, <http://www.gravesfa.org/gen057.htm>, 17 Nov 2007}
 Eli and Sarah moved to Sugar Loaf, Boone Co. Arkansas, where they are listed with children in 1900.
