LORENZO LEE BURGESS MASON CITY - Lorenzo Lee Burgess, 78, formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (Feb. 3, 2000) at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Mason City, with Lt. Jon Augenstein of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Lorenzo Lee Burgess was born March 29, 1921, in Mason City, son of Roscoe and Elsie Burgess. He grew up in Mason City and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a mechanic and painter throughout the years. Lorenzo was Golden Gloves State Champion in 1947. He loved fishing. He spent the last four years at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He is survived by one brother, Jackie L. Burgess, of Mason City; and three sisters, Betty Steece, of Mason City, Joann Anderson, of Clear Lake and Lola Boongarden, of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, June; and four brothers, Roscoe, Dale, Bob and Jerry. |
