LOLA MARIE BOOMGARDEN MASON CITY - Lola Marie Boomgarden, 80, of 503 15th St. N.W., died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. David Anderson of St. James Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home Monday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Lola Boomgarden Memorial Fund. Lola was born March 19, 1920, the daughter of Roscoe and Elsie Julia Burgess in Palo. On Oct. 23, 1938, Lola was united in marriage to Martin Boomgarden in Albert Lea, Minn. Lola started out working as a Decker's employee and 22 years later retired as an Armour employee. She retired in 1973. Lola and Martin enjoyed the outdoors while being involved with the Wig Wam and Wagon Campers, and the Happy Campers Club, in which Lola was the former treasurer. Lola and Martin spent 22 winters as "Winter Texans" in the warmth and out of the snow and cold. Lola looked forward to going camping, spending time with her family, or playing cards. She attended St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. Those thankful for having shared in Lola's life include her husband, Martin, of Mason City; three daughters, Sally Craig and her husband, Bob, of Mason City, Ruth Kellar and her husband, John, of Napa, Idaho, Jean Dunbar and her husband, Mike, of Nora Springs; one son, Martin Boomgarden Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Joanne Anderson and her husband, Dan, of Clear Lake, Betty Steece and her husband, Spence, of Mason City; one brother, Jack Burgess and his wife, Delores, of Sheffield; one sister-in-law, Margaret Burgess, of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, William Lee Boomgarden, one sister, June, five brothers, Rennie, Bob, Dale, Roscoe 'Rock' and Jerry. |
