Joanne J. Anderson, 74, of Mason City, died peacefully Monday (May 30, 2011) at her home in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday (June 3, 2011) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Joanne J. Anderson Memorial Fund.

Joanne Jean Burgess was born on September 25, 1936 in Mason City, the daughter of Roscoe and Elsie Burgess.

Joanne married Daniel D. Anderson on August 15, 1953 in Glenville, Minn. Together they had six children, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Joanne loved garage saleing, playing cards, and visiting with her friends and relatives. Joanne and Dan enjoyed 58 years together and the last 24 years wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. Joanne rode many miles behind Dan on their motorcycle in their younger years.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Dan; her sons, Andy of Apache Junction, Arizona, Dan, Jr. (Kathleen) of Swaledale, John of Apache Junction, Doug of Mason City; her daughter, April Peterson, of Clear Lake; her buddy Hobo and brother Jack Burgess of Swaledale; her grandchildren, Christie (John) of Cedar Rapids, Heidi of Kingman, Arizona, Travis (Karitta) of Clear Lake, Krista (James) of Mason City, Andrea of Iowa City, Elizabeth of Garner, Erica of Las Vegas and Jason of Phoenix, Arizona; her great grandchildren, Makenna, Hunter, Jordan, Donevan, Landon, Levi, Davey, and Matthew. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Danette; her grandson, Bradley; her siblings, Rock, Dale, Jerry, Bob and Shorty Burgess, Lola Boomgarden, June Eden and Betty Steece.
