Lloyd can be found in the following census: 1930 Sturgis, St. Joseph, IN Federal Census From the Sturgis Journal, Monday, June 18, 1962. Lloyd F. ARKLIE, 77, whose home was at 209 S. Maple Ave., died at 4:10 p.m. at Sturgis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since last Apr. 26. Mr. ARKLIE retired in 1958 after 29 years of service as a Kirsch Company office employee, was widely known for his fraternal activities with Phoenix Lodge No. 171, Knights of Phythias. He had been secretary of this order for 19 years, and, when he relinquished his duties, he was given a merit award by the local membership. Mr. ARKLIE was born in LaGrange County, Ind., July 6, 1884, a son of Richard and Mary (KEIM) ARKLIE. He was educated in the LaGrange and Howe schools and the International Business College in Fort Wayne, Ind. While living in LaGrange, he was once the assistant postmaster and had been a clerk and dispatcher for the St. Joseph Valley inter-urban line. When he came to Sturgis in 1915, he worker for the Royal Easy Chair Company offices where he remained for 10 years before moving to Florida to reside for a short time until returning to Sturgis in 1929. His marriage to Frances E. TURLEY was solemnized Sept. 22, 1910, at LaGrange, and the couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1960. Image Gallery
