Facts and Events
Levi Feary was born on 2nd September 1902 in Coventry, Warwickshire, and baptised there at St Thomas's Church the following month. He was the son of Harriet Mitchell, formerly Bastock, and a motor engineer named Edward Scholes Feary. Levi appears to have been named after Edward's younger brother. As Levi's parents were not married, his birth was registered as Levi Feary Mitchell. In Coventry the family lived at house 2 in 11 Court, Thomas Street, a small back-to-back house facing a courtyard that could only be accessed through a narrow arch between 82 and 83 Thomas Street.
Levi was the third child that Harriet and Edward had had together, but his older two siblings had both died as babies. Harriet also had four surviving sons from her marriage, the youngest of whom was about nine when Levi was born. Levi's parents went on to have three more children after him: a girl called Florence in 1903 then twins called Lily and Percy in 1904, although Lily died as a baby in 1905.
In October 1909, when Levi was just seven years old, his mother Harriet died of tuberculosis, aged 43. The 1911 census finds Levi still living at house 2 in Court 11, Thomas Street with his father, younger brother Percy and three of his older half brothers.
Some time after 1911, Levi's father moved to Lincolnshire, where he was originally from, and Levi and his brother Percy went too. Levi does not appear to have married. His father died in 1943, aged 67.
Levi died in 1954, in Lincolnshire, aged 51.
