Edward Mitchell was born on 14th August 1900 at house 11 in Court 2, Thomas Street, Coventry, Warwickshire. He was the son of Harriet Mitchell, formerly Bastock, and a motor engineer called Edward Scholes Feary. Edward Scholes Feary called himself Edward Mitchell around this time, presumably to pretend that he was Harriet's husband. Young Edward appears in the 1901 census living with his parents. Sadly he died as a baby when he was just nine months old, dying on 17th May 1901 of pneumonia.
