828. LESLIE ELIZABETH HANSBROUGH: (747 Frank) Born October 25, 1918; married (1st) J. Payne Ellis, died January 9, 1969; married (2nd William E. Skinner on October 21, 1977. There were three children by the first marriage.


From the Mexico Ledger, November 7, 2007: Leslie Elizabeth Skinner Leslie Elizabeth Skinner, 89, died Nov. 5, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Wellsville. She was born on Oct. 25, 1918 near Palmyra in Marion County, the daughter of Frank Leslie and Rose Lena Young Hansbrough. She was a school teacher for many years, beginning her career at Black School near Laddonia. She taught at Rush Hill, Laddonia and Community R-6 before retiring in November 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mexico. On Feb. 3, 1940 she married James Payne Ellis at Wellsville. He died Jan. 19, 1969. On Oct. 25, 1977 she married William E. Skinner in Mexico. He died July 9, 2007. Survivors include three sons, Jim of Mexico, Jack and wife, Evelyn, of Liberal, Kan., and Jerry and wife, Maria, of Neodesha, Kan.; a sister, Dorothy Flanagan of Quincy, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Horace and Frank (Sonny); sister, Ruby; two infant brothers; and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Rick Smith presiding. Memorials are suggested to the Mexico Chapter of P.E.O., in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265. Arrangements under the direction of Arnold Funeral Home.
