Leora Brewster
1923-2008
ORWELL - Leora Brewster, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2006, at her home in Orwell.
She was born July 2, 1923, in Bristolville, the daughter of the late Jesse Melvin and Lylia Gardner Gale.
Leora worked for Republic Steel Corp. She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7200 in West Farmington and also past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long time member of the Cortland Moose Club 1210, and she enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, fishing and traveling.
Leora is survived by her husband, William E. Brewster, whom she married on Feb. 25, 1956; her son William E. (Emily) Brewster of York, S.C.; one brother, Frank Gale of Greene; one sister; Carol Szili of Warren; one granddaughter; Sherry Williams of Cortland; and three great-grandchildren, Alexander Villers and Kerstin and Ellyana Williams.
Other than her parents, Leora was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Fenstermaker and Bertine Shively.
