Lawrence M. Billington, 23, son of Ernest Billington, 16184 West ST, was killed in action in Germany on March 5, while serving with the infantry. He had been in service about three years and had been overseas seven weeks. Pvt. Billington attended Washington Junior High School and was an employe of the Belle City Malleable Iron Company. Surviving are one daughter, Karen; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Krueger, Mrs. Ralph Johnson and Ruby Billington; one half-sister, Patricia; one brother, Howard Billington, and his mother, Mrs. Harry Wallenhoffer of Neenah. Racine Journal Times, 24 Nov 1947: BILLINGTON, PVT. LAWRENCE MELVIN 1618 1/2 West ST Age 24. Killed in action in Germany, March 5, 1945 while serving his country in the U.S. Army. Pvt. Billington was born in Racine, Oct. 19. 1921. Surviving are one daughter. Karen; father, Ernest Billington; mother. Mrs. Ida Wollenhoffer, Neenah, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. John Krueger, Mrs. Ralph Johnson and Mrs. John Seitz; one halfsister, Patricia Billington: one brother, Howard, all of Racine.
