Billington, 23, son of Ernest Billington, 1618 1/2 West ST.. was killed in action... [edit] ========================================Racine Journal Times, 10&11 Feb 1961: BILLINGTON, ERNIE 6717 16th ST, Age 78. Passed away Feb. 9, 1961 in St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Billington was born in Warren County WI on July 18, 1882 and had lived in Racine for 30 years. In Waukegan IL on July 27, 1931 he was married to the former Martha Pomplun. Before retiring two years ago because of ill health, he had been a well digger for many years. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Martha; four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Sovlenko, Mrs. John (Ruby) Seitz, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Johnson and Mrs. John (Hazel) Krueger, all of Racine; 14 grandchildren... three brothers... one sister.. . Four children preceded him in death. Funeral services ... will be held Monday Feb. 13... in the Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. Cerold Martin officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
