Biography

Sarah was a 6th Generation Appalachian American. Laura Wilson was born in Oct 1863 in Montgomery County, Kentucky.

Her parents were Johnson Wilson and Sarah (Dale) Wilson.

In 1870 she was 7 years old and living with her parents and 7 siblings in Aarons Run, Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States.

In the 1880 census Laura Willson was age 14 and designated as "daughter" in the home of her parents Johnson and Sarah Willson in Montgomery County, Kentucky.

In 1900 she was 33 years old and still in the home of her parents.

She married Samuel Ishmael Havens after June 1st, 1900.

The children of this union were:

  • Gordon Carlisle Havens (1901-1996)
  • Laura Bell (Havens) Leach (1905-1999) [6]
  • Myrtle Edith (Havens) Lawwill (1903-2001).

She passed away in 1905 in Montgomery County, Kentucky, USA.

She was laid to rest in The Wilson Graveyard, in Montgomery County, Kentucky. [7]

In 1870 She was listed as being born in 1863. 7 years old.
In 1880 She was listed as being born in 1866. 14 years old.
In 1900 She She was listed as being born in Oct 1867. 33 years old.:
FindAGrave has her born 1870 in Morgan County.

I am not sure why she kept shaving years off her age. The only thing I can think of for the 1870 date is that to use her real age she would have been 13 years older than her husband. Pam41014 03:04, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
