Larz R. Hammel was born on 27 October 1898 in Ohio. Larz was a lawyer. He is listed in the Cincinnati City Directory of 1936 and 1952. In 1936 he was still living at home with his sister Fannie and his mother. According to the 1920 census he attended school in 1919. A 1982 Cincinnati Post article calls him a friend of the Bengals football team. It said that he was very ill at time and age 83. His daughter lived in Hawaii. well known attorney in Cincinnati. He married Iris Miller. 

He was a graduate of Miami University and University of Cincinnati Law School.  He was a trustee of Miami University around 1950.
