  3.   Mr. Lamar “Doc” Ross, age 82, of 511 West 10th Street, Rome, died Tuesday morning, August 31, 1999, at a local hospital.
           A native of Floyd County, Georgia, Mr. Ross was born April 9, 1917, son of the late Charlie Ross and Katie Gertrude Simmons Ross. He had been a resident of Floyd County all of his life and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II on the Solomon Islands and the Philippines. Mr. Ross joined the West Rome Baptist Church in 1937 and served as Training Union Director, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Teacher of the Keystone Bible Class and Deacon Emeritus. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an engineer at WRGA Radio for 28 years and also operated a Two-Way Radio Service for a number of years. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by four sisters, Jessie Morris, Camilla Norris, Sarah Kokal and Elizabeth Trammell, and by four brothers, Elbert Ross, John Ross, Ben Ross and Lewis Ross. He was married in May of 1938, to the former Moyra Aline Turner who preceded him in death on January 1, 1994.
           Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John Turner Ross and Nancy T. Ross of Franklin, Tennessee; one grandson, Andrew Brian Ross of Franklin, Tennessee; one sister, Virginia Ross Hardin of Harlingen, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Lois Shores, Mary Hairston and Gladys Ross; two brothers-in-law, Frank Hardin and Byron Hairston; several nieces and nephews also survive.
           Graveside and interment services for Mr. Ross will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock from the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Dr Charlie Bridges officiating.
           The following will serve as pallbearers and are asked to meet at the graveside Thursday morning at 10:45 am. Active: W. W. Burchfield, Sam “Red” Byrd, Raleigh Gribble, Fred Sapp, Al Mitchell, Addison Postell, Henry Mull and Henry Savage. Honorary: Members of the Sam Wilson Sunday School Class of West Rome Baptist Church.
           Mr. Ross will remain at Fred Talley’s Parkview Chapel Funeral Home, 2516 New Calhoun Highway, NE, where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 7 until 9 o’clock. At other hours, they will be at their respective homes.
           Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund of the West Rome Baptist Church, 914 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.

  4.   Mr. Ross Dies Aug. 31, 1999
           Lamar Ross, 82, of 511 West 10th Street, died Tuesday at a Rome hospital.
           Mr. Ross was born in Floyd County on April 9, 1917, son of the late Charlie Boyd Ross and Katie Gertrude Simmons Ross. He was a U. S. Army Air Force veteran, having served during World War II in the Solomon Islands and the Philippines. He was a member of West Rome Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, he was employed as an engineer at WRGA Radio. His wife, Moyra Aline Turner, to whom he was married in May of 1938, died January 1, 1994.
           Survivors include one son, John Turner Ross, Franklin, Tennessee; one sister, Virginia Ross Hardin, Harlingen, Texas; and one grandson.
