  5.   Mrs. Charles B. Ross’ Services Set Tuesday
           Mrs. Charles B. Ross died Sunday night in a Rome convalescent home. She had been in declining health for several years, her condition having been critical for several weeks. She resides at 101 Sycamore Street.
           Mrs. Ross, the former Miss Gertrude Simmons, was born in Atlanta, December 10, 1880, daughter of the late W. B. and Camilla Reed Simmons. She moved to the Crystal Springs community as a young girl and spent the greater part of her life in Rome and Floyd County. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and prior to ill health had been active in all phases of church work. She was married on January 3, 1897 to Charles B. Ross, who died September 3, 1937.
           Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Jessie R. Morris of Mt Berry, Mrs. G. C. Trammell Jr, Rome, Mrs. H. C. Norris, Atlanta; Mrs. Sarah Kokal, Marietta, and Mrs. Virginia Hardin of Harlingen, Texas; four sons, John W. Ross of Miami, Florida; Ben Ross, Lewis Ross and Lamar Ross, all of Rome; three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Jackson and Miss Stella Simmons, both of Atlanta, and Mrs. H. F. Stokes of Daytona, Florida; one brother, Virgil C. Simmons of Austell; 18 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
           Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Shaw, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
           The following will serve as pallbearers: Broadus Coker, Jimmie Johnson, Warren Herndon, Albert G. Aycock, Norwood Rash and Raymond Myrick.
           The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm today. At other hours they will be at the residence. [Rome newspaper, April 1965] User:KF-in-Georgia
