CHARLIE MILLER DIED SUDDENLY
Charlie Miller, aged resident and highly respected citizen of this community, died suddenly Monday morning, November 2nd, of heart failure. Mr. Miller has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Gust Rhoda, and was apparently in good health. However early that morning he was stricken with a heart attack and died shortly after.
Carl Miller was born July 23, 1853 at Vandsburg, West Prussia and at the time of his death was over 78 years of age. At Vandsburg he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1872 his parents, having sold their property in Germany, moved to Canada and made their home at Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Johanna Graul on February 3, 1875. To this union fourteen children were born, four of them dying in infancy. After thirteen years residence in Canada the deceased and family came to Minnesota, in 1885, and located on a farm in Rome Township, near Elmore. Here he became a member of the newly organized St. John's Lutheran Church and later when he moved to Elmore, he joined the local Trinity Lutheran Church of which he was a faithful member until his death. In 1906 the deceased left this part of the state and took up farming in Stevens county, where he remained until 1913 when he returned to Elmore to spend the remainder of his days here, having retired in the meantime from farming. Mrs. Miller preceeded him in death in 1921.
The deceased is survived by the following children: David Miller of Warm Springs, Montana, Ed Miller of Elmore, Mrs. J. Walters of Tawa City, Mich., Fred Miller of Wendell, Minn., Andrew Miller of Nashua, Minn., Charles Miller of Mandan, N.D., Julius Miller of Osakis, Minn., Mrs. Wm Joos of Elmore, Leo Miller of Buffalo Center, Ia., and Mrs. Gust Rhoda of Elmore. There are also thirty-six Grand children and ten great-grand-children.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Gust Rhoda this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 o'clock at at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. Otto Kitzmann, preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Elmore Cemetery.
