The U. S. S. South Carolina BB-26 was completed in March 1910 and scrapped 13 January 1924. It was stationed in the Chesapeake Bay area during 1917 and served as a training vessel. It left Tompkinsville, New York as a unit of the ocean escort for a troop convoy in September 1918 and returned a week later for repairs. The vessel served as a training ship until Armistice day 11 November 1918.
