I have found the surname spelled as Strub and Strubb in Edith Minnemeyer's personal papers.

I have a few photos of two unknown Strubs that were taken at Costa and Edith Minnemeyer's home in Bargersville, Indiana. They include photos with Cora May, her husband Harvey, Costa and Edith, Hollis and Fern, C. Joseph and Margaret, Ben and Ravena, and Ben Jr, who appears to be four or five years old. That would put the date somewhere around 1934/1935. I also have a photo of a group of people in front of an unfamiliar house. On the back in Edith Minnemeyer's handwriting is "Mr. and Mrs. Strub's 50th Anniversary". There is a photographer's stamp "Cleveland".

In the 1910 United States Census Joseph is listed as Married but living with his son William J, and William's wife and children, in Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana. His age is listed as 61.

There is a Record of Marriage for Joseph Strub and Elizabeth Hubbard; 27 Feb 1870 in Marion County, Indiana. I do not know if this is for our Joseph Strub or not. There is some mystery yet to be solved since I have been unable to verify any marriage to Mary C. Swope.

Joseph's next wife (Maggie Surber) was probably Costa and Cora May's stepmother at the time the children were placed with other families.
