In the 1892, Dutchess County, Third Election District, Town of East Fishkill, New York, Page 3 I found Cora M Wallace as a 7 year old in the household of William and Hester Wallace. I also found Cora living with William Henry and Hester Wallace in the 1900 Census, Fishkill Township, Dutchess, New York. Since I have also found Cora May Wallace (listing her parents as Strub and Swope) on a marriage record in Indiana to a Harry P Wallace I am "guessing" that the Wallace family took Cora in when she and her brother Costa were removed from the home of her father and stepmother when she was an infant. Obviously she had contact with her Birth Mother's family since she is shown in Indianapolis with her maternal Uncle.

In her young adult life May worked as a Snake Charmer/Dancer with a traveling circus show. She always told such wonderously funny stories when she would visit with our family. Her adopted son would bring her to Edith Minnemeyer's (her sister-in-law) to stay. The Hollis Minnemeyer family would come to Bargersville from Bloomington, the Ben Tranter family would come from Franklin and my family, Joseph Minnemeyer, would spend as much time as we could with her.
