    Whereas I, Joseph Smith of Hartford, being very sicke and weake, yet of perfect memory and Understanding, to prevent any future troubles, I doe ordain this my last Will & Testament: I give and bequeath unto my wife Lydia Smith all my Estate, both Personal & Real, during the terme of her natural life, only my Just Debts being paid out of the same; and then my Estate to be disposed to my Children as my wife shall see Cause. I ordain my dear and loving wife my whole & sole Executrix, and desire Mr. Thomas Hooker & Nathaniel Stanly to be Overseers.
