    Christopher Smith: was an early settler in Northampton. His home-lot was on Market Street. He had no chlldren. Had a house and home-lot and ten and one-half acres of meadow land. In January, 1688, he made an agreement with his nephew, Samuel Partridge of Hatfield, by which Samuel Partridge was to maintain him and wife comfortably through life, manage his estate, and have all that remained. Christopher Smith died, February 13, 1692, leaving estate valued at 129 pounds. He had brothers: Joseph, Simon, William; and Mary, wife of William Partridge of Hadley, was his sister. Colonel Samuel Partridge gave his Smith land to his daughter, Mehetabel, widow of Nathaniel Dwight; and her son, Timothy Dwight, built a house on the Smith home-lot in Market 8treet, and lived there."
