Five children are living with Joseph and wife on the 1810 census of Lafourche parish, LA. He died on 8 Dec 1840 in Thibodeaux, LA. Land: "T15S R16E Sec. 24. RBBL Claim #258." He had a one-horse mill to grind corn. No slaves or other free persons. !SISTER-MARRIAGE: Joseph MARBRO was a witness to the marriage of Juan LIQUEUR & Maria MARBRO [his sister, her 2nd marriage] at St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans, LA on 20 Feb 1779. [Were they married at this time?] !BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN: Elton J. Oubre, "The Malbrough Family," 21-page article sent by Edward Domangue in May 1996. On p. 6, Joseph MALBROUGH, born around 1758/1760, the oldest son of Nicholas & Maria Christina HOURY, "a native of Canada." He married in 1781 to Angelique COUTOURIER, assumedly a native of MO, daughter of Jean Baptiste & Catherine PETIT of Canada and Kaskaskia, Illinois Territory, probably at St. James Catholic Church (there is a gap in their records from 1781-1784.) Joseph MALBROUX, inhabitant of the Acadian Coast District, was one of the witnesses to the will of Marie Francoise HENRY, widow DUFRENE. She died on 21 Jul 1784, and on the 24th Jul the commandant Michel CANTRELLE went to her home for an inventory. Joseph MALBROUX was present, and the inventoried property was left in his charge. On p. 7, in a record of 1785, Joseph BOURGEOIS sold a farm on the right bank that was bounded below by Joseph MALBROUGH. At the St. James Parish Courthouse, pp. 767 & 768 dated 26 Dec 1785, Jospeh MALBROUS sold to the free negro Nicholas his tract of land three arpents and a half, bordered above by the deceased dame DUFRENE, and below by Jean LIQEURE dit LAVIOLETTE [who married his sister Marie]. On p. 8, Joseph MALBROUGH had ownership of the tract that later developed into Thibodauxville [Lafourche parish, LA]. It was in that area that he and his family were listed for censuses after 1795. !CENSUS: 1795, Valenzuela, LA. Joseph MALBROU, age 35, living further down Bayou Lafourche than rest of MALBROUGH family.
