!BIRTH: Elton J. Oubre, VACHERIE, ST. JAMES PARISH, LOUISIANA: HISTORY AND GENEALOGY; ; Thibodaux, LA, Oubre's Books, 1986; p. 16; sent by Edward Domangue. He was born in 1769 in Texas when his parents were landed with other Acadians and Germans who had left Maryland to come to Louisiana and were blown off course. Captured by Spanish, they were taken to a fort at San Antonio, Bexar, TX where one German-Acadian, Jean Augustin MALBROUGH was born [some of text missing on top of p. 17]. Later travelling overland to Nachitoches, with canoes on the Red River they descended to the Mississippi and arrived in New Orleans on 9 Nov 1769. !BIRTH: Called "Juan of New Orleans" on daughter Magdalena Hanrrieta's baptismal record at Assumption Church 31 Aug 1800. Bishop PENALVER held confirmations at Ascension Church "of Valenuzela" on 26 May 1796. Juan MALBRU, son of Nicholas, was confirmed. !CENSUS: Albert J. Also: Jean MALBROUE, age 27, living with his wife Rosalie, 27 on 4x40 arpents of land on the 1798 census of Lafourche. Also: Jean MALBROUT, age 28, living with his wife Rosalie, 17 on the 1798 census of Lafourche. They have 2x60 arpents of land. !MARRIAGE: Diocese of Baton Rouge, CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS; 1770-1803; Baton Rouge, Parish, 1980; vol. 2, pp. 201 & 513; Sutro, California State Library, F377 B3 C3 vol.2. Juan MALBROU, son of Nicolas & Maria ORVIE of Germany, married on 29 Aug 1796 to Rosalia COMMEAUX, daughter of Josef & Ana Ysabel LANDRY. Witnesses: Joseph DUPREES [DUPRESSE on p. 201, for DUPUIS?]; Gregoire [illegible]. Recorded in Assumption Church, Plattenville, LA (ASM-2, 21). On p. 513, baptism of Magdalena Hanrrieta [MALBROUGH], daughter of Juan of New Orleans & Rosalia COMMAUX of this Parish, on 31 Aug 1800 in Assumption Church. [Was he perhaps baptized at New Orleans?] !CENSUS: 1797, Valenzuela, LA, right bank of Bayou Lafourche. Jean MALBROUE, age 26, living with wife Rosalie COMO, age 16. Household is listed between Jean LICAIRE & Marie MALBROU, and Joseph MALBROUGH & Angelique [COURTOURIER]. !DEATH: Must have died before his widow Rosalie COMMEAUX remarried on 10 Jan 1809 to Thimote HEBERT (ASM Ct.Hse: Marr.
